I am sure you have seen and admired those scarves that have that ever changing mix of colors. The technique gives them an impressionistic and moody ground that can be woven with a favorite fancy twill. In this workshop you will be given a pre-wound warp of 20/2 silk. We will show you how to paint and dye the natural colored silk with colors of your personal palate. You then warp one of our looms with this fabulous dyed warp and thread it to a choice of four or eight shaft twill patterns. Your 5 yd. warp will be long enough for two scarves. Depending on how you dyed the warp, you can have two very different looking scarves. We will be using Tencel for the weft in your scarves because it offers a variety of colors and has the look and feel of silk. Come and join us for the exciting experience that you might not try yourself at home. It’s as if you are getting two workshops in one. You don’t need to be an experienced dyer to take this workshop.

Sara is the owner and resident instructor of Red Stone Glen Fiber Arts Center. Many of Sara’s students praise her ability to guide students through the challenging world of color theory, specifically relating to weaving.
