Dates: July 10, 2021 - July 11, 2021
Cost per ticket: $150.00
Join us in the summer of 2021 for a weekend of fun and fiber with you favorite little one. This fiber camp for kids ages 6-16 is designed to give all participants a chance to make art together. Sara Bixler, the owner of Red Stone Glen is thrilled to be able to put her degree in K-12 Art Education into practice alongside a talented group of educators. During our time together participants will rotate between several stations where they will be introduced to spinning, weaving, knitting, dyeing, felting and tatting. Projects are geared to a wide range of ages and skill levels. All tools and materials are included with your tuition and will be taken home to continue practicing newly acquired skills.
To be able to accommodate larger number of students and any weather that may present during our time together Red Stone Glen has rented out the local YMCA camp just down the creek from our own campus. If you have studied with us before and have had a chance to meet Tom Knisely our resident weaving instructor you’ll find it interesting to know this is the same YMCA Tom lived at as a child while his father was the full time care taker. With rental of the entire camp we have access to all out building and the 265 acres grounds where you may take advantage during breaks walks around the property and time down at the creek.
Participants are invited to stay after class on Saturday for a campfire, cookout and a reading by Tom of his new children’s book “The Weaver’s Surprise”. Please let us know if you plan to stay for the evening activities so we can plan for food quanitities. Snacks and water will be provided throughout the day, but we ask you to pack a lunch for your mid-day meal on Saturday and Sunday. If you are not local please visit our Accomodations Page for a listing of recommended hotels and BnBs in the area. If you’re feeling adventurous feel free to join us at the camp while we tent out under the stars with our own kids. The camp has “basic” bathhouse accommodations and happy to allow us to pitch a tent on the grounds. When calling to register please ask for more information.
**Registration cost is person, including adult as each member will receive a maker’s kit. To register yourself and you little(s) please give us a call here at the studio so we can obtain more information regarding allergies, specific information regarding age and more details on our daily schedule. We look forward to having you join us with your favorite little people, perhaps the next generation of makers!
All classes run 9am - 5pm unless otherwise indicated in the description above.
For class dates that are full, please feel free to call us here at the studio and have your name place on the wait list.
