Double Weave Throws on the Rigid Heddle

About class

Are you ready to take your weaving to the next level both in skill and scale? Join Sara as we dive into weaving a double width throws. Students will go through the planning, warping, execution and finishing off a throw that will double the ability of the little looms we love. Lecture instruction will review warp calculations and Sara will cover all the unknown factors such as choosing a sett, yarn considerations and much more to ensure in weaving this time honored project. Students must bring their own loom, and must meet the specifications of a weaving width greater than 20″ weaving capability. When bringing your own loom be sure you have all the necessary hardware to weave with two heddles and two 10 dent reeds.

The recommended yarns for this project are 5/2 perle cotton for the warp and a dk to worsted weight knitting yarn for the weft.

Sara is the owner and resident instructor of Red Stone Glen Fiber Arts Center. Many of Sara’s students praise her ability to guide students through the challenging world of color theory, specifically relating to weaving.
