Designing for Checks, Plaids & Striped Fabrics

Dates: April 8, 2021 - April 10, 2021

Cost per ticket: $345.00

About class

This workshop is designed as a warp and weave style to empower students with a broader set of skills to design fabrics for checks, plaids and stripes sure to please everyone. Participants will review and be guided through basic warping calculations for a specific project such as towels, a shawl or table runner utilizing stripes of varying colors and values. Sara will assist students in choosing a range of values that will help the weaver achieve a well-balanced and aesthetically appealing handwoven piece of their own design!

Design planning techniques will be demonstrated ranging good old fashion graph paper and colored pencils to the most modern weaving software and online applications sure to meet each learner’s unique learning style. Although not required, some students may find their educational experience to be augmented by bringing their own portable devices such as tablets or laptops. Students will be guided from the design stage through the warping, weaving and finishing of their pieces to create their own unique, one of a kind check, plaid or striped handwoven fabric. Students are encouraged to bring materials from home, or you may purchase materials in the shop while you are here.

Materials are not included in tuition.
