Our beginning class covers all the basics to get you started. Learn about different types of wools and their uses for different styles of yarn, the process of washing raw wool, how to prepare worsted and woolen yarns using wool combs and hand carders, and how to operate a drum carder. After you have spun a sufficient amount of singles yarn, you learn how to ply them together to make suitable yarns for knitting or weaving. Students will use our studio wheels, but are encouraged to bring their own wheel if they already have one. All materials included with tuition.
All classes run 9am - 5pm unless otherwise indicated in the description above.
