Silk Painting

Dates: May 8, 2021 - May 8, 2021

Cost per ticket: $175.00

About class

Silk painting is the art of applying resist known as gutta and then painting a dye onto the material. The resist is removed when the painting is complete and the design is revealed. This technique allows the artist to create intricate and complex designs to simple free-flowing watercolor style compositions. Habutai silk fabric is the popular choice, but some artists do choose other fabrics. In this class we will be using a water-based resist and water-based dye so that it is easier to clean, and very safe and easy. Students will complete one silk scarf and all materials are included with your tuition.
