Gain a better understanding of fiber preparation, spinning and plying. We will explore the differences between worsted and woolen spun yarns, show you how to better card and comb your fibers using wool combs. We will discuss when to use your wheel’s different whorls for soft spun or tightly spun yarns, and how to prepare and spin cotton and silk. Toward the end of the day we will discuss different plying techniques. All materials included with tuition.
All classes run 9am - 5pm unless otherwise indicated in the description above.

This class's instructor
Tom Knisely has made his career from his interest and love of textiles from around the world. Tom has been studying, collecting, and teaching others about weaving and spinning for more than four decades.
