Dye for a Day!

Dates: June 29 - June 29

Cost per ticket: $185.00

About Class

Are you curious or intimidated with natural dyeing? Do you just have a day to devote to a new experience, or just want to refresh the natural dye process and make it easy? This class will cover the preparation (including safe mordants), process and finishing of natural dyeing wool and silk materials using cochineal, weld and indigo. The recipes presented are well tested and very easy to create. No harmful chemicals will be used as we want to also observe an eco-friendly approach. Since we will dye an assortment of materials, in just one day, all materials will be supplied, as well as an info booklet, recipe cards, resource lists, videos/photos and more to help recall info from this fast-paced class. In addition, students will have the opportunity to do some over-dyeing and “clamped shibori” patterns with 2 cotton samples.
