Double Weave Blankets

Dates: May 30, 2023 - June 2, 2023

Cost per ticket: $485.00

About class

Have you ever longed for one of those BIG beautiful textured throws shown draped over the back of a chair in a magazine, this is your chance. Double Weave is a clever technique that allows you to weave two separate layers of plain weave fabric at the same time on a 4 shaft loom. By carefully maintaining the treadling and shuttle direction you can close the one selvage creating a double width fabric. When you have finished weaving and open it up your blanket will be approximately twice the weaving width of your loom. During the class, students will learn the basic fundamentals of Double Weave and then warp a loom using our easy chain warp method.

Materials are not provided for this class. Yarns are available for purchase for use in class or students may bring their own.

If bringing your own, Tom suggests any yarn that isn’t too stretchy and would work up to 8-10 EPI.

If you’re using a yarn that’s 10 EPI, you’d need approximately 1200-1300yds for warp and 500yds for weft. If your yarn is 8 EPI, you can use approximately 1000yds for the warp and 400yds for the weft.

These are suggestions and Tom would OVER compensate the yardage depending on how you want to lay them out or what type of pattern that you wish.
