If you are anything like me than you love to explore different weave structures and knowing how they work. This is the case of Collapsed Weaves. By sampling many warps and observing my successes and failures I acquired a better understanding of what is necessary to push a fabric in a direction that will make it fall into deep pleats or shallow furrows. Come join me as I talk about the yarns and threads needed to make a fabric collapse. In this workshop you will weave two scarves using tencel for your warp to insure a soft drape able feel. Each student will measure and warp their loom in a colorway of their choice. Then each student will weave two scarves using different weft threads of their choice to see how these wefts play into this collapsing phenomena. The finishing and wet finishing play an important role on how these scarves pleat so there will be time allowed to demonstrate this.
All the threads used for these scarves are part of the class fee.
All classes run 9am - 5pm unless otherwise indicated in the description above.

Tom Knisely has made his career from his interest and love of textiles from around the world. Tom has been studying, collecting, and teaching others about weaving and spinning for more than four decades.
