Shibori with an Indigo Fruit Vat

About class

This class will begin by making a natural indigo vat using rotten fruit or fructose, plus learn how to feed and keep this indigo vat working for months. Since the word Shibori means to bind, we will next prepare fabrics for 5 techniques of resist using poles, string, thread, wood and metal.

Students will create a series of stitching samples, several pole-wrapping designs as well as clamping with wrapping metal. A final charmeuse fabric piece will showcase each student selected favorite Shibori methods. Recipes and stitching & binding illustrations will be included as a handout booklet.
