Dyeing Gradient Yarns

About class

We all have had that “ah ha” moment as we stand in front of a display of gradient yarns which provide us with many yards of one color that gradually shift into another creating this exciting and wonderful yarn that is fun to knit and weave with in contrast to a solid or variegated yarns. But even the commercially produced yarns have their limitations as we as the consumers are at the mercy of the industry to work with their vision and their chosen colors. In this course we will explore how to create these wonderful, one-of-a-kind yarns, specifically looking at it from a design stand point. Weavers and knitters alike will look at your pieces in a whole new light knowing you control the final product from start to finish. Knitting students are encouraged to bring patterns along you would like to reference or discuss and weavers come prepared to design your own custom piece. Students will be responsible for purchasing their own yarn based on their project, but all dye materials are included with tuition.
