The term double weave takes on several thoughts. It could be structural such as a two layered fabric that makes a tube or double width as many of you have already tried in weaving double weave blankets. This class however is all about weaving pattern blocks of sharp and clear pattern squares. To better understand how the double weave blocks work, we’ve designed this workshop so each student will weave two scarves with colors and designs of their choice. We will use 8/2 tencel for both our warp and weft to guarantee a beautiful scarf that drapes and feels like silk when you’ve completed the finishing. Each student will choose colors of their liking and warp one our 8-shaft looms. With guidance from Tom or Sara, each student will gain the confidence to weave double weave.
All materials are included with tuition.
All classes run 9am - 5pm unless otherwise indicated in the description above.

This class's instructor
Tom Knisely has made his career from his interest and love of textiles from around the world. Tom has been studying, collecting, and teaching others about weaving and spinning for more than four decades.
