Intro to Shibori Dyeing

About class

Fold it, bind it, stitch it however you see fit, learn the ancient art of Shibori dying. In this course students will be introduce to the history of Shibori, a Japanese tie-dyeing technique used to create different shapes and patterns in finished fabrics. Students will be introduced to a wide range of techniques used to create these patterns by folding, pressing, gathering, tying and even sewing! Students will learn how to prepare their fabrics in the mordanting process, use both cold and hot water processes to apply the dye, and lastly how to over dye. All materials are included with tuition.
